Non schengen destination

Schengen area

The Schengen Area is a group of 26 European countries. Almost all in the continent. As part of a unified agreement. All of them have agreed to remove passports and internal border controls. So every citizen of each member state is free to go anywhere they want within the EU. The citizens of non-European countries who want to enter the Schengen Area would experience border control once in the first country that they enter. But after that, entering other member countries would no longer require further immigration control.

These are the 26 countries:

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.

In the same time citizens of many countries are allowed to enter the Schengen Area without having to get a visa in advanced. Your passport just gets stamped upon your arrival and departure from Europe. You’re allowed to enter and leave from any EU country you want. This citizen must be residents of:

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Georgia, Grenada Hong Kong SAR, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, USA and many more.

How long i can stay in the Schengen

Once you are allowed to enter the Schengen Area. With just your passport or with a short-term visa – you are only permitted to stay for 3 months (90 days) in any 6 months (180 days). The 90-day span doesn’t need to be consecutive. It is treated as cumulative (especially if you have a multiple-entry visa). After you have stayed in Schengen for a total of 90 days, you have to leave. You are not allowed to come back again until the 181st day from the first time you entered.

If you don’t leave by that time, you are subject to a penalty or deportation or will be forbidden to entry again in the Schengen Area.

These are the 26 countries:

So is it possible to stay in European Union, in a developed, safe, well-connected country, but at the same time out of the Schengen area?

Answer: YES! Welcome to Bulgaria.

Do you know something about Bulgaria? If NO just read and fall in love:

Why to visit Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a country situated in the eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe. Founded in the 7th century. Bulgaria is intersected by historically important routes from northern and eastern Europe to the Mediterranean basin and from western and central Europe to the Middle East.

Short Bulgarian history

Bulgaria gained its independence in the late 19th century. Joined the losing side of several conflagrations in the first half of the 20th century. And despite gravitating toward the Axis powers in World War II, it became a part of the Soviet Union from 1948 to 1989. This alliance had profound effects on the Bulgarian state and mind. Changing everything from land use and labor practices to religion and the arts. As communist governments fell in eastern Europe in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Bulgaria entered into another hard period – post-communism. Today Bulgaria is strongly directed on the West. It became a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in 2004 and of the European Union (EU) in 2007.

The beautiful nature of Bulgaria

Bulgaria is remarkable for its variety of landscapes. High mountains and relaxing Black Sea resorts, wild beaches, lakes, small cute villages, big multicultural cities and a lot of festivals and events. Like other nations of the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria claims a mix of Eastern and Western cultures, and the mingling is evident in its cuisine, its architecture, and its religious heritage. Explore
